The South Williamsport Area School District Foundation
is a component of the First Community Foundation of
Pennsylvania. As such, it is fully eligible, under IRS
regulations governing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations,
to receive tax-deductible contributions as provided by
law.
MISSION
The South Williamsport Area School District
Foundation seeks to enrich the lives of the young people
and adults of the community by generating financial
support for academic, cultural and athletic endeavors.
OBJECTIVES
- Promote student development through enriching
programs and activities.
- Encourage young people to strive toward
excellence by offering scholarships to South
Williamsport Area School District for its graduates.
- Encourage creativity among staff by supporting
unique growth opportunities.
- Encourage school/community partnerships by
promoting community awareness about school programs,
providing ways for individuals and organizations to
share resources with the school to enhance learning
and facilitating cooperative ventures among the
Foundation, School District and community groups.
- Receive, raise and administer funds and assets
outside of traditional school funding sources to
reinforce and supplement the goals of the South
Williamsport Area School District.
INITIATIVES
Two exciting initiatives that will benefit from funds
contributed to the South Williamsport Area School
District Foundation include:
VENTURE GRANTS FOR
TEACHERS
The South Williamsport Area School District
Foundation rewards the creation of exciting and
innovative educational ideas through the Venture
Grants for Teachers Program. Grants of up to $500
will be awarded, on a competitive basis, to enable
unique teaching strategies to become a reality.

EDUCATOR IN RESIDENCE
The objective is to bring resource people into
classrooms of the South Williamsport Area School
District, where they can share their expertise with
students, staff, and, in some cases, members of the

SWASDF ADVISORY BOARD 2006
The SWASDF Advisory Board is comprised of South
Williamsport community members from a variety of
backgrounds and professions. Many of them are school
district graduates, have children in the district
schools, or are retired school district faculty.
Regardless of origin, the members of the board are
dedicated volunteers. The Board is working to enhance
the education of our students in the community of South
Williamsport and the surrounding area. Each member is
selected by a nominating committee and serves a term of
up to three years.
