Rider Park

**TRAIL CLOSING INFORMATION &

SAFETY REMINDER**

(UPDATED JANUARY 11, 2008)

Park trails are temporarily closed to biking due to wet conditions.  Thank you for your help in protecting the environment of our park.

PLEASE WEAR ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASONS

Hunting is not permitted in the park. However, due to the rural location of the park, neighboring properties may have hunters participating in the sport during hunting seasons.  Hunters wear orange for safety, and the Rider Park Advisory Board encourages park users to wear safety orange during hunting seasons.

About Rider Park

Rider Park is a gift of the late Thomas J. Rider to the residents of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Rider included a special request that the Sisters of Christian Charity and Divine Providence Hospital, now part of Susquehanna Health System, use the area for employee recreation and patient rehabilitation. He also provided funds for the maintenance of the park.

A noted businessman and civic leader, Mr. Rider strongly believed in the benefits of a life of community service. Rider Park is a fitting legacy - located in Lycoming County, north of Warrensville, Pennsylvania - the park has over 868 acres of woodlands and meadows and is a tribute to a man whose life embodied a healthy balance of work, volunteerism, and the enjoyment of recreation.

An Advisory Committee, comprising various members of the community, partners with the Directors of the First Community Foundation of Pennsylvania in managing Rider Park. This collaboration guides long-range and annual planning, as well as direct maintenance and development of policies for the Park.

Rider Park is free and open daily to the public from dawn to dusk. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities including hiking, picnicking, bird watching, cross-country skiing and mountain biking.

Use by Groups and Pavilion Reservations

A covered pavilion with picnic tables and seating for 24 is available for public use. It may be reserved free of charge for picnics, family reunions or other special gatherings by calling (570) 321-1500.  The park has handicapped-accessible portable restroom facilities.

A request for use must be submitted for groups planning to use the park, and for those who wish to reserve the pavilion.
